FGI reiterates need to repeal ULC Act
Vadodara: The Federation of Gujarat Industries FGI, in a letter to Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel on Thursday, has reiterated the need to repeal Urban Land Ceiling ULC Act. FGI senior vice-president Amit Goradia stated in the letter that the necessary legislation should be passed by the State Assembly so that once the Central Government passes a resolution, the Act stands repealed. Adding that the Act had not served any purpose, Goradia alleged that it had only led to wrong practices and increased scope of corruption.

Action promised
Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel on Thursday assured that disciplinary action would be taken against persons involved in irregularities in recruiting teachers for the Vidya Sahayak Yojna8217; in four districts of the State. Addressing a meeting of city and district party workers here, Patel praised the efforts of party workers for the victory in by-polls in Bharuch Parliamentary seat and civic election to ward number 26 in VMC.

Two-day meet
A two-day workshop on Switchgear and Ancillary, Design, Manufacture, Testing, Operation and Maintenance8217; will be organised in the city on Friday and Saturday under the auspices of the Vadodara Chapter of the Society of Power Engineers. Twenty-five technical papers will be discussed in six sessions at the meet. Approximately 200 delegates from across the country are expected to participate.

Workshop
A two-day workshop on Status of Reproductive Health of Women in Gujarat8217; will be organised in the city on Friday and Saturday by the Population Council at the Royal Resort from 10 am. The purpose of the workshop is to disseminate and discuss policy relevance of eight studies funded by the Population Council under its Small Grants Scheme on reproductive health of women in Gujarat.
