Gold card
As part of the International Year for Senior Citizens 1999, the United Way of Vadodara is offering a Gold Card especially designed for the elderly. The scheme offers annual health check-ups, nurse visits twice a year, free services of a plumber, electrician and television technician as well as collection and payment of bills. Rinkesh Patel of Gujarat studying in the United States has been given the USA president8217;s Award for Education in recognition of outstanding educational improvement in pursuit of academic excellence in 1998. In a letter, president Bill Clinton has congratulated Patel.

The Vadodara branch of the Indian Medical Association IMA was adjudged the best in the country for organising continuing medical education and other scientific programme during 1998, IMA secretary Kamal Jain informed recently.
