
MUMBAI, AUGUST 12: Actor Shreeram Lagoo and social activist G P Pradhan will be undertaking a fast in support of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. Support for Hazare, who is on the third day of his 11 day fast at the temple town of Alandi, is pouring in with several people expressing their desire to join him.
Lagoo who will undertake a three-day fast and Pradhan who will be on a one-day fast, met Hazare in Alandi to express their support to his resolution for introspection and penance. Several other people from the state and over 35 activists from Andhra Pradesh met Hazare during the day.
Hazare said that there would be no change in the present state of the system unless there was awareness among the people and until they unite in a crusade against corruption. There are various sections of society having their own problems, and there are some who are least concerned about their surroundings, he said.
Doctors examining Hazare8217;s condition on the third day of his fast today, said that his bloodpressure was stable though he has lost almost quarter kg of his weight.
Hazare said an agitation like The Quit India Movement, 1942, could help in bringing about desirable changes in the system and counter corruption.
Turning down suggestions from people that he should contest the election, Hazare said that there were several individuals who were not in politics but who have been able to carry out remarkable social work, nevertheless.
