CHANDIGARH, June 22: The Super Bazar Workers Union today started a 24-hour chain hunger strike in support of their demands, with the Union president Mohinder Singh today sitting on the hunger strike.

The Super Bazar workers have been demanding a change in the management, besides other demands which include uniform to all Class IV employees, exemption from ESI Act, selection grade to salesmen, computerisation of all outlets and appointment on compassionate grounds.

Earlier, addressing a rally before the hunger strike the employee leaders also demanded an inquiry into the losses suffered by the Super Bazar. Among others who addressed the rally included Union general secretary Kamaljit Singh and general secretary of UT Subordinate Services Federation, P.S. Lamba.
