
Aug 5: Bharat Petroleum Corporation football team captain Sunil T Azad has been placed under a two 8212; month suspension by the technical committee of the Mumbai District Football Association, according to a press release issued by the MDFA today.
Azad was penalised for abusing the refree Nitin Bhosale after he was awarded a yellow card in their Harwood League encounter against Naval Dockyard on July 29. The BPCL team had staged a walkout following the incident and refused to return to the field.
Naval Dockyard who were leading 1-0 when play stopped were declared the winners.
MDFA has allowed BPCL to play in their forthcoming league matches following an unconditional written apology by BPCL coach Shetty at the MDFA committee meeting held on Sunday, the press release added.
