CHANDIGARH, June 12: A summer school on computer-aided drug design is being organised by the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) from June 15 to 19.

The summer school aims at highlighting the use of computers in drug designs and introduction of the rational drug design concept. It will also highlight several sophisticated new approaches and technologies, which are replacing traditional methods of drug discovery.

The programme will be useful for post-graduate teachers of pharmacy schools and technocrats in research institutions, universities and the industry, B. Gopalakrishnan, the organising secretary of the summer school, said.

The programme will be inaugurated by T. P. Singh, head of department, Biophysics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, the organising secretary said.
