Student council takes oath at PU

The swearing-in ceremony for the elected student council was held today at the Panjab University. The elected panel of SOPU-ABVP alliance was made to take oath by Dean Students Welfare DSW Professor Naval Kishore. Also present on the occasion were PU Vice-Chancellor Professor R C Sobti and Dean Students Welfare Women Professor Nishtha Jaswal. While Prof Sobti apprised the students of their responsibilities, Prof Jaswal made all the department representatives DR8217;s take oath.

Reacting to the demands regarding an increase in the allotted budget to the student council, Prof Sobti announced an increase of 10 per cent in the budget. The budget allocated at present to the student council is Rs 1 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sobti said, 8220;I am very happy that the elections went off peacefully. I have very high expectations from the new student council and want them to work hard

towards the development of the university and their fellow students.8221;

Addressing the problems being faced by the students on the campus in terms of parking, Prof Sobti said that the varsity is planning to have a centralised parking and is seeking funds for the same.
