Cairns, Nov 15: England captain Alec Stewart fell for his third duck in four innings today as the Ashes tourists stumbled to a precarious position against Queensland.

While the team leader failed again, former captain Michael Atherton was unable to field and did not open the innings because of a stiff back.

After a good performance with the ball, England was left a target of 142 to win the game. At stumps with one day to play it was 74 for five wickets after Australian Test aspirant Michael Kasprowicz tore through the batting.

Stewart scored a half-century in England8217;s first innings following a pair of ducks in the draw against South Australia last week. Batting conditions did not improve in England8217;s second innings as Mark Butcher 0, Nasser Hussain 24, Stewart 0 and John Crawley 4 were victims of the deliveries that barely rose above shin height.
