PWG Naxals burn govt documents, equipment

HYDERABAD: Naxalites of the People8217;S War Group went on a rampage in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday burning furniture and records of two government offices and telephone exchange equipment. Twenty Naxals of Sirpur dalam went to the Mandal Revenue Office and Mandal Parishad Development Office at Dahegaon, took out the records and furniture and lit them with kerosene. Later, the ultras went to the house of the village sarpanch, brought out the telephone exchange equipment there.

Fast to protest priest8217;s killing

TIRUCHIRAPALLI: Over 1,000 Christians, including women, belonging to various denominations, observed a day8217;s fast in protest against the recent killing of Tamil Catholic priest Fr. Arul Doss in Orisssa and stripping of a nun in Bihar, in front of the railway junction here on Thursday. Besides leaders of the community, leaders of various political parties including the CongressI and AIADMK, addressed the fasting members.TNCCI vice-president and former MP, L Adaikalaraj condemned attacks against Christian minorities.

Bamboo bridge collapse kills five

MADHEPURA, Bihar: At least five people were killed when a bamboo bridge over a tributary of the Kosi river in Sukhasan village collapsed near here on Thursday. Three bodies had been recovered while search for other missing people was on. Sources said eight people were injured and some of them in hospital were stated to be in serious condition. The victims were to witness a helicopter carrying a senior political leader on a campaign tour.

Lightning claims 26 in Uttar Pradesh

Etawah: Lightning claimed at least 26 lives in Uttar Pradesh overnight. Five fatalities were reported today and at least 35 people have recieved burn injuries. Etawah district magistrate Surendra Chandra Sharma said today that five persons were killed and 24 injured in Auraiyya district. One person was killed in Sahayal on Thursday and two others injured while they were working intheir field. In Choli village one 70-year-old Kanta Devi was killed and in village Ghasara a man and his sister got killed while they were working in their field.

Protest against MPSC exams

MUMBAI: Members of the Vidyarthi Kruti Samiti staged a demonstration outside Mantralaya on Friday to protest the State Government8217;s decision to reduce the age limit of candidates appearing for the post of police sub-inspector in Maharashtra Public Service Commission examinations. Altogether 40 persons were arrested by the Cuffe Parade police and later released on bail.
