
Haryana is ranked at number three in the implementation of the 20-point programme in the country, according to the latest review report of the programme received from the Central government. This was stated by the deputy chairman of high-power committee relating to the 20-point programme, Phool Chand Mullana, while reviewing the progress report of the implementation of this ambitious programme during this financial year, upto October 2008, in a meeting with concerned heads of departments here today.
He said that Haryana has achieved upwards of 90 per cent of the targets set in the areas of assisting individuals for employment, operational blocks under Integrated Child Development Services Scheme, functional anganwadi kendras, area covered under plantation, roads constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and number of pump sets energized from April to October 2008.
Mullana further said that schemes related to the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, social security, minimum wages to the labourers and provision of houses for the poorer sections of society, welfare of women and children, Indira Awas Yojana and accelerated urban and rural water supply schemes were also discussed.
