PUNE, Sept 4: Sarjerao Narhari More, the head constable from the special protection unit SPU who was injured in an attack by jilted husband of a colleague, succumbed to injuries on Thursday night.
More was seriously injured when Vishal Suresh Madane, husband of his colleague, stabbed him at the Ganesh Kala Krida ground on August 31 night. He was admitted to a private hospital in Rasta Peth.
After post-mortem at the Sassoon hospital, More8217;s body was taken to his native village in Indapur taluka, where he would be cremated.
Madane, who was arrested by the Swargate police, has been charged with murder.
The police said Madne, who noticed More chatting with his newly-wed wife at the Pune Festival, attacked the head constable with a knife while they were leaving the venue.
More, who comes from a family of a farmer from a village near Walchandnagar, was recruited as constable 15 years back. He was posted with the Group 11 of the State Reserve Police Force at Navi Mumbai and shifted to Pune seven months back. He was staying alone in Pune. His family resides at his native place.
