NEW DELHI, November 24: St Stephen's College and Khalsa College moved into the semi-finals of the inter-college cricket tournament here today.In the first quarter-finals, Khalsa College defeated Ramjas College by 120 runs while in the second, Hindu College lost to St Stephen's College by four wickets.Electing to bat first on a placid Khalsa College strip, the hosts were all out making 264 in the 40th over. Their innings was built on a solid knock of 94 by Vickey Dhir and Varun Kumar, who made 69. Useful contributions also came from Nitish Malik, who made 28.Umesh Chaudhary of Ramjas was the most successful bowler with four wickets for 37 runs while his teammate Amit Sinha, who also claimed four wickets, gave away 53 runs.But chasing the huge total, Ramjas were shot out for 144 in 33.3 overs with Kundan Mehra doing the maximum damage. Mehra captured four wickets for 50 runs while Harmeet Vohra got two off his seven overs, conceding 17 runs.Hindu, batting first, made 165 with Akash Chopra making 49 while Sumit Sharma (31) and Amit Sharma (31) made useful contributions. Siddharth Singh Verma claimed five wickets to send the team crashing.In reply, St. Stephen's made 167 losing six wickets. Siddharth also shone with the bat making 52.
