
VADODARA, Aug 18: For patients who have to pay exorbitant bills for Computerised Tomography CT scans, here is good news. The city-based Sir Sayaji General SSG hospital has installed a CT scanner in the radiology department8217;s trauma centre which will become operational in a fortnight. Till now, patients used to avail the CT Scan facility at two private hospitals in the city and had to shell out about Rs 3500 per scan. At SSG hospital, the cost will be a subsidised Rs 1600.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Kamal Pathak said the facility would go a long way in helping patients who cannot afford the exorbitant charges. Hospital sources said that for poor patients, special concessions would be provided.
The CT Scanner has been purchased from a foreign company at roughly Rs 1.75 crores. Dr Manish Pandey of the Radiology department said that with the help of the CT Scan, it will become possible for the doctors to scan specific body parts. 8220;We can monitor the specific body parts on the control panel and diagnose accordingly,8221; he said, and added that the scan would be extremely beneficial to the Neurology department for treating accident victims.
