CALCUTTA, May 8: Fast bowler Javagal Srinath expects to be fit in another three weeks.
Speaking to mediamen after giving away the prizes for a school chess meet here today, Srinath said that he has been practicing very vigorously for the past few weeks and is happy with the progress. The fast bowler, who had undergone a shoulder rehabilitation programme recently, was having troubles once again during the Australian tour of India.
In fact, he had even aggravated his injury during the second Test at Calcutta. Quite reluctant to speak about his injury, Srinath said that he will reply to all the queries on the field itself.
Invited to be the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony of a chess meet, Srinath felt that he was not the right person for the job. Chess, he argued, was a mental game while cricket was a physical one. The bowler was the focus of attention today as the children mobbed him for autographs.
Even the recipients of the awards made it a point to ask for his autograph, afterreceiving their prizes.
