Springdales honours the Bard on Annual Day

The 53rd Annual Day and prize giving ceremony of the Springdales School, Pusa Road was held on Saturday, with a tribute to the Bard in Shakesper’arena’.

The 53rd Annual Day and prize giving ceremony of the Springdales School, Pusa Road was held on Saturday, with a tribute to the Bard in Shakesper’arena’.

The students brought the enchanted love of Queen Titania in Midsummer Night’s Dream, the murder of Julius Caesar, the court scene in The Merchant of Venice, the iconic balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet, and the tragedy of Macbeth alive on the stage, with music and dance sequences enhancing the act.

The chief guest of the evening was Soli J. Sorabjee, former attorney general, with Malashri Lal, joint director, University of Delhi South Campus, as guest of honour. Sorabjee, in his speech, said that theatre was a means to build character. “To play a lead role is not an easy task, and building a child’s character is even harder,” he said.

A short video presentation created by the students on the theme ‘Society in Conflict’ was shown to the audience before the ballet began. Awards were given to meritorious students for excellence and dynamism in different fields of the curriculum.
