Having proved himself one of the 8220;finest8221; railway ministers the country has had, Lalu is aiming higher, literally. Or at least that is what it appeared like when he enunciated his views about the Civil Aviation Policy at a recent meeting of the Group of Ministers. Taking on the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Lalu questioned the logic of removing the stipulation that calls for a domestic airline to have five years of operations before it is allowed to fly abroad. He spoke at length on why this should not be reversed, leading to an animated discussion of the issue. With the aviation sector divided between Kingfisher on one side and established players pushing for the status quo on the other, Lalu8217;s outburst bewildered many and the GoM finished without any decision.
