Like Cyber Cafes, Pool Places are sprouting like mushrooms on a wet patch. And with the city being a fertile ground for passing fads, entrepreneurs like Yunus and Yusuf Shah are quick to strike while the iron is still hot. Ten days ago, their shop of artificial plants at Fountain reopened in its new avataar Cool Pool, an 800 sqft room where the only green you can see any more is the felt on the three pool tables. But if you go in during their busy hours, you would think that the whole of South Mumbai knows of it already. quot;College kids from this area keep us busy from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm with stockbrokers and office-goers also dropping in,quot; says Yusuf. In the night, since the place is open till 11.30 pm, a lot of the party crowd is giving up pubs for pool. The brothers, who decided to open this place because they themselves play pool, also plan to start serving soft drinks soon. The charges are Rs 50 per frame a game, for the uninitiated 8212; which can last for a maximum of 15 minutes or you could book thetable for Rs 250 per hour.
