I find the observations of T.V.R. Shenoy very intriguing, even amusing 8216;It should be PM Sonia8217;, IE, May 20. The writer has always been a bitter critic of Sonia Gandhi and has authored a large number of articles portraying her as a good-for-nothing leader, quite unfit for the post of prime minister, even as he has spilled a lot of ink praising Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Now that Sonia Gandhi has managed to defeat Atal Bihari Vajpayee convincingly, winning 145 seats for her party8217;s coalition against the 138 seats the NDA coalition was able to garner; now that she has managed to add nearly 100 more seats through careful arrangements with her allies; now that she has firmly resisted the temptation to become the prime minister of the country, Shenoy feels that she should have accepted the post.
Have a heart, Mr Shenoy, you should at least be consistent, if nothing else. Do you feel cheated that Sonia Gandhi has denied you the malicious pleasure of criticising her? Has she taken the wind out of your tattered sail?
In any case, where is your great helmsman? Is he drowning his sorrow in poetry? Perhaps he may need your advice at this moment. Sonia Gandhi certainly does not.
