Mohali, Chandigarh police to work in tandem to prevent law and order issues during New Year

Mohali and Chandigarh police have decided to work in close coordination and carry out joint operations to prevent any untoward incidents during New Year celebrations, curb anti-social elements and take strict action against hooliganism,.

The decision was taken during a coordination meeting of senior police officers, where it was agreed that police station heads of Mohali and Chandigarh, particularly in bordering areas, would share intelligence, set up joint checkpoints and take stringent action against miscreants.

Sharing details, DSP, City 2, Harsimran Singh Ball said the meeting was attended by DSP, City 1, Prithvi Singh Chahal, SDPO, South Chandigarh, DSP Gurjeet Kaur, and SHOs from various police stations in Chandigarh and Mohali.

He said the coordination meeting was held on the directions of SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, and SP (City) Dilpreet Singh also participated, sharing his inputs on maintaining law and order.

“Following the meeting, a joint naka (checkpoint) was set up by the police, and suspicious persons were checked,” he added.

The DSP further said it was decided at the meeting that special joint checkpoints would be installed on both sides to take action against anti-social elements and hooligans. “Strict action will be taken against drunk driving, hooliganism and a special verification drive will be launched to identify anti-social elements,” he said.

Police said the joint initiative aims to ensure peaceful and safe New Year celebrations across Chandigarh and Mohali.
