MUMBAI, May 19: Saraswati Kanya Sangh SKS, Nagpur, finished with a clean record in the round-robin league matches in the Mahendra Pratap Sharada Prasad Memorial Trust-sponsored Women8217;s invitational Basketball tournament at the Fatima School courts, Vidyavihar, to move into the final. They will meet Ajinkya Gymkhana, Satara, who won four of their five matches.

The only point of interest of today8217;s matches was to see who joins Ajinkya in the final. That issue was settled in the morning itself when SKS defeated Ajinkya 59-49. The Fatima SC-SKS clash later in the evening then became of only academic interest. Fatima had to defeat SKS by a huge margin. Instead they lost by a 29-point margin 67-38.

In the Ajinkya-SKS match in the morning, the players from the Satara team appeared slow in their movements. And as SKS took the lead, Ajinkya started attempting long range shots, which predictably did not find the target. But, having qualified for the final, Ajinkya could have expected to play a relaxedgame.

In the evening game, SKS were too good for the home team, Fatima. Only for a brief period, when they went on a 20-5 run and bridged SKS8217;s lead from 22-2 to 27-20, did the match appear to be running close. But SKS soon shut all escape routes for Fatima and predictably ran away easy winners.

Results:
