Siyaram Podar champions

Siyaram, who were 83 runs behind on the first innings, did well to restrict their rivals to 228 in their second innings. Off-spinner Tushar Zaveri five for 62 did the damage.

Siyaram, set to score 312 for a win, reached the target with three wickets in hand. Jitendra Jagdale 80, Tushar Zaveri 47 and Rajesh Pagdhare 56 were the main run-getters.

Rachh deadly

Fine left-arm spin bowling by Premal Rachh and an unbeaten half century by Mangesh Dahigaonkar helped Podar to beat S P K, Sawantwadi, to enter the semi-finals of the Inter-Zonal Collegiate cricket tournament at Shivaji Park, today.

Rachh took five wickets for 22 runs in nine overs to dismiss Sawantwadi for 105. He was well-supported by off-spinner Abhishek Jaywant 3-20. In reply, Podar made 240 for six when Sawantwadi captain threw in the towel.
