
CHENNAI, JANUARY 25: Six persons including two computer engineers were arrested and the video piracy cell of the Tamil Nadu crime branch-CID police seized from them pirated computer software CDs, computers and hard discs, all together worth Rs 2.30 crore late last night.
A CB-CID press release said here today that two others connected with the case were absconding. Following information, the CB-CID sleuths raided thre efirms in the city and seized two computers loaded with pirated softwares, four hard disks and a total of 385 CDs.
The piratted versions of computer software programmes, whose originals are very expensive, were being sold at a throwaway prices. Of the seized CDs, 211 are compilation discs, that is those containing software of various companies, with an estimated value of more than 1.15 crore.
