
Power generation and distribution is a major problems for India. One answer to the generating more power could be to involve the hundreds of cooperatives in the country. a good example to follow is the US where electric cooperatives play an important role in the power sector. NRECA serves in 36 million people through its 1000 electric cooperatives. It was founded in 1942 during the second world war to supplement power generation and distribution in the country. It also operates in developing countries and spreads the word of power cooperatives in them. There 250 such cooperatives in 14 developing countries which offer technical, managerial and educational help.
