Shun parochialism and emulate the US that embraced Obama: BJP

BJP advised the MNS to emulate the US that embraced Obama and not to divide the country by pursuing regional agenda.

.

Asking the MNS to emulate the US, which elected an African-American President in Barack Obama jettisoning racial bias, former union minister and senior BJP leader C P Thakur, on Thursday advised the political leaders not to divide the country by pursuing regional agenda.

While congratulating Obama for his landslide victory in his bid for the White House, Thakur, a Rajya Sabha MP, said, “The people of America have risen above racism and voted for a black President for the first time. It is unfortunate that the leaders in India are bent on dividing the country.” The BJP leader asked both RJD and LJP to withdraw their support from UPA government if it does not take stringent action against Maharashtra government, which failed to check anti-north Indian violence unleashed by MNS activists.

Expressing “deep anguish and concern” over the MNS-backed violence, he alleged, “This could not have happened without the collusion and connivance of the Centre.”

“We have lost four sons of Bihar because of the hate campaign started by MNS,” Thakur said.

“Congress party is hand-in-glove with MNS and Raj Thackeray,” he said.Thakur, a former Union Health and Family Welfare Minister demanded the dismissal of Vilasrao Deshmukh government, saying “it had completely failed in checking violent attacks on north-Indians”.

“The Union government must immediately dismiss the Maharashtra government and bring the state under Central rule.

The Deshmukh dispensation appears totally incapable to deal with the situation,” he demanded.
