Indore, Oct 28: Two unforced errors — one forehand return into the net and another which sailed long — at a crucial moment proved costly for Karishma Patel. She lost to Shruti Dhawan in three sets 0-6, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5) in the Bridgestone-ITF third-leg women’s tennis tournament today.

After losing the first set, Karishma gave a tough time to her fifth-seeded rival in their one hour, 50-minute encounter. She broke Shruti in the fourth game of the second set to make it 3-1 but was broken back in the fifth. She broke back in the sixth and held the seventh. Shruti broke back in the 10th after which both held to take the set to tie-breaker. Karishma drew level by playing a good tie-breaker.

In the decider, however, Karishma failed to capitalise on her opponent’s errors to lose the match.
