SKF Bearings India Ltd emerged the overall champions at the 16th Inter Swedish Group of Companies tournament which concluded here today.

Sandvik Asia were the runners-up in the championship which had in fray 176 participants from six Swedish companies namely SKF Bearings India Ltd, Atlas Copco, Alfa Laval, Sandvik Asia, Hogana Ltd, Tetra Pak 8212; for six disciplines.

Chess: 1. VL Pawar SKF, 2. R Burkule, 3. SV Dalvi SKF. Championship: SKF.

Breast stroke: 1. B Mullick Sandvik, 2. Roychaudhari SKF, 3. Raju Latambale Tetra Pak.

Veterans tennis from Jan 24
Maharashtra Military Foundation will be conducting the Pune Club Republic Day Tin and Bottle tennis tournament for veterans at the PYC courts from January 24 to 26.

The tournament will be based on a round robin format with the top eight teams entering the quarter-finals. The final will be a best of 17 games affair 9 to win by tie breaker. All matches except the finals will be held in the mornings from 7.00 a.m. The finals will commence on January 26 at 4.00 p.m.

A total of 32 teams are in the fray, out of 41 entries received. Entries have been received from PYC, Mukundnagar, RSI, Deccan Gymkhana, FC, ILS Law, Residency, NDA and Econ Kalyan.
