Shooters off target

Ace rifle shooter Anjali Bhagwat failed to live up to reputation, finishing a lowly 21st in the women8217;s 50-m rifle prone event. Anjali andher lesser heralded teammates Tejaswini Sawant and Deepali Deshpande could not qualify for the final while the men rifle shooters too disappointed in the same event.

Anjali looked clearly out of her league and performed dismally with a modest average score of 9.650. Tejaswini, the best of the trio, came up with an average score of 9.683 98, 98, 96, 97 in the four rounds to end up 15th while Deepali Deshpande finished a rung above Anjali.
