On a wintry Tuesday evening, British High Commissioner Sir Richard Stagg threw open his residence on Rajaji Road to welcome 200 guests for the launch of a British footwear company in India, Pavers England. Currently, their shoes are available at all Shoe Tree outlets in Delhi. 8220;I visited India in 2002 and found a serious lack of comfort footwear,8221; said Stuart Paver, chairman of Pavers England, before the show. A modest Catherine Paver, founder of the 36-year-old brand, who conceived the project in a coffee-room while bringing up three kids, said, 8220;I never dreamt in a million years that I would come to India. I hope they like our shoes.8221; An hour-long fashion show saw models walking down the ramp in chic pumps, leather boots and some lethal-looking wedge heels, while guests nibbled on a sumptuous spread that included a very British stewed lamb and kebabs. Pavers England shoes begin at Rs 900 and will soon be available at Lifestyle and Pantaloons.
