Shikha smashes Anita’s 15-year-old record

Bangalore, April 2: Talented teenager Shikha Tandon of Bangalore smashed the 15-year-old Anita Sood’s National record by clocking 9:20.56 seconds in 800 metres free style event in the Asian Swimming Championship being held in Pusan on Sunday.

Nisha Milet of India had bettered her own National mark in 100m freestyle with a timing of 59.42s. The earlier National mark stood in the name of Nisha with a timing of 1:00.45s. Established in Senior Nationals at Tiruvananthapuram in 1997. Nisha finished sixth in Pusan and her effort was short of Olympic qualifying time of 58s.
