Two days after several rounds of firing took place at a house in Mohali’s Phase 7, panic struck Zirakpur on Sunday morning when about five shots were fired at the son of Hotel MM Crown’s owner on Patiala Road.
According to eyewitnesses, the bike-borne assailant opened fire in broad daylight at the hotelier’s son Gagan while he was standing at the parking area near the busy Car Bazaar area, narrowly missing the target. Though no one was injured, two parked cars were hit by bullets, creating chaos and fear among locals. Police and forensic teams reached the scene and collected several spent cartridges. One bullet casing was found lodged in a car bonnet.
Preliminary investigation suggests the attack stemmed from an old rivalry. After firing the shots, the accused fled the spot on an unregistered motorcycle.
“Police received a PCR call at 112 about the firing incident at Hotel MM Crown. On reaching the spot, we found that five rounds had been fired, but fortunately, no one was hit. The bullets damaged two nearby vehicles. Whether it was a gang rivalry or a personal enmity will be clear after investigation,” Station House Officer (SHO) Satinder Singh said.
He further confirmed that both the accused and the victim are residents of Yamunanagar and known to each other. The accused, identified as Shubham Pandit, allegedly fired at a man named Gagan.
“Based on Gagan’s statement, a case has been registered against Shubham Pandit of Yamunanagar under charges of attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Shubham Pandit is the same gangster on whom the Haryana Police has announced a Rs 1 lakh reward. Police teams have launched a manhunt to nab the accused, and officials assured that he will be arrested soon,” ASP Ghazalpreet Kaur said.
