NEW DELHI, November 11: Central Bureau of Investigation CBI director R C Sharma, who suffered multiple fractures after he fell from an aircraft at Guwahati airport, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS here today.
A team of senior orthopaedic surgeons, including AIIMS director Prof P K Dave, examined the CBI chief, flown in here by a special Indian Air Force plane.
According to Dr R C Anand, the institute Medical Superintendent MS, Sharma, suffering from multiple fractures, 8220;was stable and thankfully there are no internal injuries or haemorrhage,8221; and added that all his vital organs were functioning normally.
Sharma, 59, who was in Guwahati for a court appearance in connection with the multi-crore veterinary scam, had a fall from a height of 20 feet when the aircraft ladder was removed while he was boarding the flight to Delhi yesterday.
The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and Indian Airlines had ordered separate inquiries into the mishap. Preliminary probe into lapses, if any, causing Sharma8217;s fall yesterday began at the Borjhar airport today. The final report would be submitted by the Indian Airlines to its head office. Several airport and Indian Airlines officials were questioned.
