CHANDIGARH, Oct 29: Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 made a short work of Government College, Ludhiana 32-29, in their last league match to win title in the men’s category in the Punjab University Inter-College handball championship at the PU Campus here today.
Gurcharan Singh, who scored 15 points was the main architect of the team’s victory in the match today. He was ably supported by Naresh Kumar (10) and Hardeep Kumar (5).
Rajesh Thakur and Bharpur Singh netted 12 and 6 goals, respectively, for losers.
PU Campus edged out SD College-32, 25-23 in their last league encounter to win second place. Vikesh (7), Rashpal (5) and Ramandeep Singh (4) were the main scorers for PU Campus.
SD College got third place in the meet.
DAVC-10 win
DAV College-10 beat SD College-32 by 57-50 in their league match in the PU Inter-College men’s basketball tournament here today at the PU Campus.
But the team suffered a set back in their second encounter when they lost to Government College, Ludhiana by four points (44-48).
Nirpinderjeet Singh with 17 points top scored for DAVC-10 while Charan Singh and Amanpreet Singh also netted 8 and 7 points, respectively.
For Ludhiana Deepak Kumar (12), Amandeep Singh (10) and Sarbpreet Singh (10) were the main scorers.
GC, Ludhiana defeated DAV College, Hoshiarpur 69-60 in their second league match to assert their supremacy in the meet.
