Sepoy Pawan Kumar cremated

AMBALA, Sept 2: The mortal remains of Sepoy Pawan Kumar Saini of 12 Jat Regiment, who laid down his life in Leh sector on August 30, were consigned to flames with military honours at his village Gadholi, 55 kilometres from here, today. Thousands of people including Haryana Minister of State Raj Kumar Saini, INLD MLA from Sadhaura constituency Ramji Lal, Deputy Commissioner Navraj Sandhu, Superintendent of Police M.S. Malik and military officers were present to pay homage to the martyr.

The pyre was lit by the martyr8217;s brother. The Deputy Commissioner presented a cheque of Rs 10,000 from the Red Cross Fund as ex-gratia. She said that financial aid worth Rs 10 lakh and other relief fund would be paid from the Chief Minister8217;s Shaheed Relief Fund shortly.

Pawan had joined the Army about seven years back. Son of a small farmer, he is survived by two brothers and a sister.
