
MUMBAI, Aug 14: Even as the Shiv Sena today refused nomination to controversial former social welfare minister Babanrao Gholap, it will field his nephew Ravikiran from the Deolali reserved Assembly constituency.
Following a complaint lodged by Janata Dal leader Sanjeev Chimbulkar and also on the directions of the court, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered an offence against Gholap under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Despite charges of corruption, Gholap was making all possible efforts to secure nomination, but, following directives of Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, he was denied the same.
Shiv Sena today released the list of 22 party nominees for the ensuing Assembly polls. Dilip Patil will be party8217;s nominee from Kagal, where the party had fielded Sanjay Ghatge, who joined the Congress. From Pandharpur Assembly seat, the party will support Independent Vasant Kale. From Karanja, the seat held by Gulabrao Gawande, who joined the Nationalist Congress Party, Bhimrao Raut will be partynominee.
Prominent among the other party nominees are Vishnu Patil from Pen, R O Patil from Pachora, Bhimrao Surve from Mangrulpir, Shyam Gaikwad from Wardha, Anand Shelke from Phaltan, Arvind Pawar from Shirala and Shankar Jadhav from Bhilwadiwangi. In seven constituencies 8212; Bhokar, Ousa, Nilanga, Purandar, Bhor, Wai and Kagal, the party has changed the candidates, which were earlier declared. The new nominees are Bhagwan Manorkar, Dinkar Mane, Sunil Mane, Ram Zagade, Shobha Pasalkar, Shrikant Chavan and Dilip Patil.
