Sehwag back to talking with the willow

It has not exactly been a great one-day season for Virender Sehwag. First, there was that slump in form that made him looked quite ordinary. Then, just when he had clawed back with a 73 against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, the BCCI placed a gag order for his comments on 8216;missing his former skipper Sourav Ganguly in the team8217;.

Since then, the Najafgarh dasher, one of the six in this team who have played ODIs in the Caribbean before, has looked pretty subdued here 8212;on the field and outside. But today at the Warner Park, after skipper Rahul Dravid walked back with a rare duck, it was time for the 27-year-old to step up, let the fans know what he means to Team India.

After a patchy 22 and 12 in the first two matches, Sehwag8217;s bat finally started talking8212;- his 50 coming in the usual speed, in 43 balls with seven fours and a six, and looking good for much more. It was an unsure start, especially after the Dravid blow, but by the seventh over, Sehwag decided it was time to wake up 8212;- a slashed six over point off left-handed paceman Ian Bradshaw notifying his intentions.

Then in the 14th over, he took to Jerome Taylor with three stunning fours: a powerful flick of the wrists on the offside, a flashy swivel to fine leg and one guided down to third man as the right-arm fast bowler reeled under sheer power of Sehwag8217;s blade. But the best of them all came four overs later, when Sehwag bent down, the right knee taking all the weight, and creamed one to the cover fence. Gag order? Take that.
