CHANDIGARH, Sept 25: SD Public School-32 and DAV School-8, scored contrasting victories over their respective opponents to enter the semifinals of the Chandigarh State Junior football championship under-19 at the Sector 17 Football Stadium, here today. SD Public School thrashed Jawahar Navodya School, Sector 25 by ten goals to nil while DAV School-8 scored a solitary goal win over St Xavier8217;s School-44.

In the match between SD School and Jawahar Navodya, the former dominated the contest and shot ahead in the 3rd minute through Sandeep. Two minutes later Sandeep was again on the target 2-0.

The other goal scorers for the team were Kuljeet, Sartaj and Tarjinder. The trio shot two goals each.

In another match, Ravinder scored the match winner for DAV School-8 in the second half of the contest, to show St Xavier8217;s School the exit door.

Sanjay Public School-44 A beat OCF-29 by three goals to nil to move into the last four stage of the meet. After a barren first half, Harish opened the account for SPS-44 in the 46th minute. And Pardeep Thapa made it 2-0 in the 55th minute.

Kalarjit completed the tally in the 60th minute. Sanjay Public School-44 B team also entered the semifinal by beating Liberty Club 3-0. Vinay scored hat-trick for the team.

Manav shines
Unbeaten century by Manav Asopa 112 enabled DAV Senior Secondary School-8 score a convincing 167-run victory over Stepping Stone School in the Chandigarh Inter-School cricket tournament at the Cricket Stadium-16, today.

DAV School-8 in their allotted 25 scored 248 runs, losing one wicket. In reply Stepping Stone were bundled out for a paltry score of 81 runs.

In another match Sanjay Public School beat Bhavan Vidyalaya-27 by 88 runs.
