BORDEAUX, June 16: Scotland midfielder Craig Burley scored in the 67th minute to grab a 1-1 draw against Norway in their group A8217; match today.

Both sides remain in the hunt for a place in the second round.

Burley ran onto a through pass from substitute David Weir to lob the ball over the advancing Frode Grodas, just reward for a spirited fightback by Scotland after they conceded a goal in the opening seconds of the second half.

Havard Flo slid in at the far post to nod the ball home after Vidar Riseth, brought into the side by coach Egil Olsen because of his pace, beat Burley on the left hand side and sent in an inviting cross.

The result gives Scotland one point after two games with Morocco to play in their final match. Norway have two points but have to face holders Brazil in their last game.

Burley had the chance to give Scotland victory in Bordeaux8217;s Stade Lescure in the 75th minute but Grodas pulled off a sensational save to push away Burley8217;s shot from the edge of the box.

Scotland had thebest of the opening phase and almost got off to a dream start after some skilful work on the right-hand side from John Collins in the fourth minute. The Monaco midfielder floated in an inviting ball which Christian Dailly headed inches across the goal and past the post.

Scotland went close again in the 19th minute, when Kevin Gallacher just failed to connect fully with a knockback from Gordon Durie after a deep cross from Tom Boyd.

The cross from the Celtic defender, who showed he had shrugged off the own goal that cost Scotland a point against Brazil last week, was one of several promising attacks from the Scotland left. But the final ball into the box was often disappointing.

Norway became more lively as the game went on. Scotland goalkeeper Jim Leighton had to race off his line in the 26th minute to block a shot from midfielder Roar Strand.

Stale Solbakken missed a fine chance in the 37th minute, hitting a close range shot over the bar after Strand whipped in a cross from the left.
