
KAPURTHALA, Feb 17: Residents of Sheikhupur locality here, beat up a middle-aged school teacher, for allegedly misbehaving with the wife of his former student, Ankit, in her house this morning.
Tara Chand, father-in-law of Ankit8217;s wife Malti, told mediapersons that school teacher Mehar Chand Arora, who was on a supervisory duty of middle standard examination in the higher secondary school in the locality, visited his house in the absence of male family members and told Malti that her husband was his former student. At this, Malti asked him to stay and offered him tea. But Mehar Chand allegedly misbehaved with her by embracing her. She managed to flee the house and started shouting.
The school teacher, after the incident, went to the school to perform his supervisory duty. But the residents assembled outside the gate of the school and called the school teacher out on the pretext that his son had met with an accident. When he came out, he was beaten up by the residents.
A police patrol party came to the rescue of the teacher.
Later, Tara Chand reported the matter to the police, who arrested the school teacher and registered a case under Section 354, 506 and 452 IPC against him.
Mehar Chand has denied all the allegations. One killed in accident Jhilmal Singh 5 a resident of village Balerkhanpur, was killed in a road accident on Kalasingia road near the village on Tuesday evening, according to police.
