CHANDIGARH, May 18: State Bank of Patiala outplayed Reserve Bank of India 3-1, to clinch the team title in the Inter-Bank table tennis tournament, which is being played held here at the RBI, Recreation Sports Club.

SBP players were far better than the rivals in the all departments of the game. However, the had to rely on their reserve to outplay the RBI players, who gave a tough fight.

Though SBP had best players of the meet in their ranks, and won the first singles, they had to fight their way to clinch the trophy.

Vaneet Chopra of SBP exhibited his skill and gave a winning start to his team by defeating Veer Singh (RBI) 21-5, 21-15.

But the victory was short-lived as SBP lost to RBI in the second singles.Sanjeev Agarwal of RBI got the better of Dupinder Singh (SBP) in straight game 21-15, 21-19, to level the score (1-1).

In the third singles, Rakesh Sharma (SBP), a former Haryana State champion brought back the team on the winning track by scoring a 21-18, 21-19 win over PK Choffla (RBI). And in the decider, Dupinder, who earlier lost to Sanjeev Agarwal, pulled his sleeves and fought bravely to beat Veer Singh of RBI 21-16, 21-18, to clinch the title for his team.

Competition in veterans and men’s singles were also held today.
