MUMBAI, JAN 1: SBM, Pune survived a close contest as they defeated Abhuduya 25-19 in the youth girls event of the IInd Fr Agnel invitation basketball tournament at Fr Agnel courts, Vashi today. At half-time SBM were leading 23-14. For SBM, Kavita K (11) was the leading scorer while Shweta D of Abhuduya had six to her credit.

In earlier match, SBM had an easy time against Deccan Gymkhana as they won 35-9. At half-time, SBM were ahead 10-2. For SBM, Kavita K again was the top scorer with 15 points while Deccan Gymkhana’s Aditi B had five points to her credit.

In U-16 boys, Fr Agnel A sneaked past Deccan Gymkhana 60-51. At the breather, the Vashi team were ahead 32-23. For Agnel A, Binoy KB scored the most with 22 while Anup Nair and Avinash Amin had 13 points each. For Deccan Gymkhana Apurva S (30) had more than half of the team score against his name while Girish C helped with 12. In another U-16 boys match, Green Stars (Solapur) defeated School of Basketball (SOB) 45-33. At half-time, Green Stars wereahead 20-19. For Solapur team Daniel K (14) and R Chilvery (10) did most of the scoring while Chinmaya B of SOB had 15 points.
