MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 23: The Rizvi College top order came up with sizeable contributions to finish the opening day of the four-day Mumbai University Inter-Collegiate Cricket final against Jhunjhunwala College on a satisfactory note at the Elf-Vengsarkar Cricket Academy here this evening. Opener Mahesh Walkar (50: 156b, 7×4), Vijay Singh (73: 165b, 11×4, 1×6) and Amit Aroskar (69: 143b, 9×4) were the main run-getters. At close, Manish Bangera (18) and Vishal Jain (14) were at the crease.
Put into to bat, Rizvi suffered an early reverse when Asif Khan (4) departed cheaply. However, Vijay Singh in the company of opener Walkar put the innings back on the rails with a 108-run stand for the second wicket. Singh was also involved in a 52-run association for the third wicket with Aroskar.However, all the three batsmen were guilty of gifting away their wickets when in command. In the event, left-arm spinner Praful Mahajan claimed 3-72.
