
MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 23: The Rizvi College top order came up with sizeable contributions to finish the opening day of the four-day Mumbai University Inter-Collegiate Cricket final against Jhunjhunwala College on a satisfactory note at the Elf-Vengsarkar Cricket Academy here this evening. Opener Mahesh Walkar 50: 156b, 7215;4, Vijay Singh 73: 165b, 11215;4, 1215;6 and Amit Aroskar 69: 143b, 9215;4 were the main run-getters. At close, Manish Bangera 18 and Vishal Jain 14 were at the crease.
Put into to bat, Rizvi suffered an early reverse when Asif Khan 4 departed cheaply. However, Vijay Singh in the company of opener Walkar put the innings back on the rails with a 108-run stand for the second wicket. Singh was also involved in a 52-run association for the third wicket with Aroskar.However, all the three batsmen were guilty of gifting away their wickets when in command. In the event, left-arm spinner Praful Mahajan claimed 3-72.
