Union Health Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss today said that samples of herbal medicines provided to the ministry by CPIM Politburo member Brinda Karat tested positive for animal and human parts. He, however, said that the government doesn8217;t know who manufactured the medicine and whether they belonged to Swamy Ramdev8217;s pharmacy.

8216;8216;The Health Ministry is saying that the samples were found to contain animal parts, but I have clearly stated that we don8217;t know who the manufacturers are. The samples were not lifted directly by the government,8217;8217; the minister said.

8216;8216;We have asked the health authorities in Uttaranchal to probe the charges against the Swamy and do their independent assessment. Karat is an MP and she supplied those sample to us, which we got tested,8217;8217; he said.

Sample testings were carried out at Hyderabad8217;s National Centre for Characterisation and Composition of Material and Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Madras Veterinary College and University of Animals and Fisheries in Kolkata.

It8217;s Left-hatched conspiracy, says RSS

New Delhi: The RSS on Wednesday alleged that CPIM leader Brinda Karat8217;s charges against Swamy Ramdev and his yoga group was a conspiracy aimed at demeaning reputed people promoting Indian culture.

8216;8216;Karat8217;s allegation is a conspiracy hatched by the Left to demean reputed persons following Bharatiya culture8230;,8217;8217; RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said. Asserting that Karat had no authority to take the medicine samples, he said, 8216;8216;she has violated sampling norms stipulated by the government, and the Health Ministry has colluded with her.8217;8217; Madhav also demanded action against Karat and the ministry officials for allegedly violating sampling norms.

Reminding people at a function here that he himself had taken up cudgels against multinational companies, UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said he was with Guru Ramdev as he promoted indigenous medicine. He also said that Left leader Brinda Karat8217;s allegations were based on earlier media reports.
