MUMBAI/JODHPUR, October 17: Actor Salman Khan arrived in Mumbai tonight after he was released on bail by the district and sessions Judge D N Joshi in two cases relating to killing of two black bucks and a chinkara. Salman had been under judicial custody in Jodhpur Central Jail for the past five days.
Meanwhile, Mumbai sessions court today directed the police not to arrest Salman’ father, Salim Khan, until October 19. Salim Khan feared arrest under the Wildlife Protection Act for keeping wild animals in captivity.
Clad in black T-shirt and jeans, sporting an unshaven look and accompanied by his youngest brother Sohail and producer friend Sajid Nadiawala, Salman arrived at the Mumbai airport at 2140 hours to a warm welcome from his father, relatives and friends. From there, Salman was driven straight to his Bandra residence.
A disappointed media who were waiting all along to get a quote from the actor had to content with Sajid Nadiadwala’s quote who said that Salman was in a relaxed mood throughout thejourney.
Talking to reporters, Salman’s advocate Adhik Shirodkar said that “we have crossed the first hurdle by securing the bail”. He defended his client saying that the allegations of Salman shooting a black buck and later cutting its throat is false, but following tremendous pressure by local groups on authorities, he was arrested and denied bail earlier.
Referring to the raid on Khan family’s farm house at Panvel he felt that it was more than just a coincidence that the two events happened at the same time. “Don’t you think it is a peculiar happening”, he asked.
