CHANDIGARH, May 3: Sports Authority of India (SAI) Hostel-18 scored a facile 34-6 win over Carmel Convent-9 to enter the final of the girls section in the Chandigarh State junior basketball championships played at DAV School in Sector 8.

SAI cagers dominated the proceeding and had 17 points lead at the break (20-3).

After the change of ends, SAI girls played at a leisure pace but still Carmel Convent girls were unable to narrow the gap.

Nevidata with 15 points did bulk of the scoring for SAI Hostel. Sarita netted 12 points while Sonia contributed 4 points to the score.

Neha got six points for Carmel Convent.

In another match Government Model High School Club-26 blanked Dev Samaj School-21 27-0. Half time score was 16-0.

Ranjeeta (12), Pushpa (7) and Yashpreet (4) were the main scorer for the eventual winners.

In the boys section, Sports Complex Sector-46 defeated Government Model School-33 by 51-28. Sports Complex were leading by four points at the break (21-17).

Suresh with 18 points top scored for Sports Complex. Hariminder and Jaspreet also contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Harmandeep (10), Balraj (6) and Neeraj (5) scored for GMS-33.

In another match Punjab Breweries Club beat St Soldiers School-28 by 25-21 and will face defending champions DAV School-8 in semifinal tomorrow.

Punjab Breweries, who were trailing by two points at the break (9-11) fought back strongly in the second session to win a berth in the semis.

Jagdeep Singh sunk 9 points while Digvijay and Sunit got 6 points each for the winners.

Yogesh (9) Amandeep (8) mainly scored for loser.

New Public School-18 also entered last four stage by beating Sri Guru Harkishan Model School-38 by 31-0. Half time score was 20-0.

Vikas (8), Munish (7) Aman (6) were the scorers for NPS.
