NEW DELHI, JULY 2: The Pakistani intrusion in Kargil cast its shadow on Indo-Pak cricket relations with sponsors Sahara India today pulling out of the annual five-match series to be held in Canada this September.

Sahara India Chairman Subrata Roy, in a statement here, supported former skipper Kapil Dev’s call to sever cricketing ties with Pakistan till the aggression in Kargil is vacated. Kapil Dev is one of the directors of the Sahara India.

In Mumbai, Cricket Board president Raj Singh Dungarpur said "we will not ignore national sentiment". “All I can say is the Board will fully support the national policy and will not ignore national sentiment.” A final decision will, however, be taken at the Board’s Working committee meeting to be held soon.

Sahara India, in its statement, said "we do understand and appreciate that any sporting event is symbolic of peace, fraternity and brotherhood between participating nations and will closely observe the situation as it develops. If circumstances were to changeappreciably in the future years, we shall definitely relook the same."
