PATNA, Feb 21: Sadhu yadav, high-profile brother of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, continues to elude the police dragnet despite intensive efforts to arrest him for violating Election Commission guidelines and obstructing the discharge of government duty, official sources said. Three of Yadav’s police bodyguards were suspended for refusal to comply with the Director General of Police’s order for their recall, state Home Secretary R K Singh said today.

Yadav is alleged to have been moving in a fleet of eight vehicles along with his bodyguards and intimidating voters in Gopalganj constituency. When his convoy was intercepted by the police he assaulted an inspector, Amarnath Jha on February 19.

Singh said three of his vehicles were seized by the police during raids on the residences of his relatives at Gopalganj yesterday but Yadav managed to escape.

He said two cases have been registered against Yadav for violation of EC guidelines on the number of vehicles in a convoy and under Section 353 of theIndian Penal Code pertaining to obstruction in discharge of duty by a government servant. Singh however expressed ignorance about Sadhu Yadav’s movements even as Yadav gave an interview to a private television channel this evening.

Well-placed sources reveal that Yadav who dodged the Gopalganj police came to Patna the next morning, taking refuge in the official residence of the Chief Minister. He later moved to his own VIP area residence. He was reportedly at home throughout the day.
