Sacked teacher8217;s hunger strike continues

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 19: The hunger strike by one of the sacked teachers of the Punjab Nav Niyukt Adhyapak Union continued today.

The hunger strike by Jaspal Singh, the teacher who took over from Ritu Joshi yesterday entered its second day today. Ritu Joshi was admitted to the General Hospital, Sector 16, yesterday, while Tejinder Kaur is under treatment at PGI.

The teachers have been on fast unto death outside the office of the Director Public Instructions S, Sector 17, to protest against the dismissal of the teachers by the state government on November 13, 1997. They have since been demanding reinstatement from the government.
