PANCHKULA, Aug 11: Supporters of the Haryana Lok Dal (Rashtriya) today held a demonstration in front of the DC’s office and handed over a memorandum for Haryana Governor Mahabir Prasad demanding the dismissal of the state government and condemning what party spokesman termed as “total failure of the state government to work towards the betterment of the people.”
Om Prakash Chautala, who was scheduled to present the memorandum to Saroj Siwach, was conspicuous by his absence. Speaking on the occasion, Dhir Pal Singh, MLA from Badli, protested against the rising prices of commodities in the state. Terming the hiked rates of edible goods and oils, vegetables as “alarming”, the party spokesman condemned the government’s “apparent apathy towards common man’s demands”.
Ashok Arora, MLA Thanesar, and Pradeep Chaudhary also expressed concern over the rise in the incidents of violence in the state and “prevailing lawlessness during the present government’s rule.” Citing examples of the murder of Dr Raman Bhandari in Bhiwani and the robbery in the house of a journalist in Panchkula, the HLD(R) termed them as proof of the “government’s failure to maintain law and order”.
