July 4: During the last six months, a record 61 One-Day International matches have been played all over the globe. There has been a change in the team position for the top honours during this period. Sri Lanka, who won the four-nation Pepsi Independence Cup in India, lost their top position to the South Africans when they lost their one-off one-dayer against West Indies recently.
The rest of the teams have maintained the same position as last month since no other matches were played during the month of June. India, not surprisingly, is still languishing at the bottom. With just three wins and 11 losses in their 16 matches, India have a success percentage of 25.Sri Lankan Aravinda de Silva with 708 runs in 13 matches and Pakistani, Saqlain Mushtaq with 36 wickets in 18 matches retain their top positions in batting and bowling respectively.
Left handers, West Indian Brian Lara in batting and Sri Lanka Sajeewa de Silva in bowling are the new entrants to the list. Lara was in the ninth position, while de Silva was 10th.
