
England survived another mini collapse to beat a plucky Canada by 51 runs Sunday in a World Cup match overshadowed by Andrew Flintoff8217;s suspension for a drunken night out.
England posted 279 for six after being sent into bat by Canada at the Beausejour Cricket Ground. After an early wobble, Canada rallied for a credible total of 228-7, highlighted by Ashif Mulla8217;s 58, as England struggled to bowl it out. It was Canada8217;s highest total in 11 World Cup matches.
Canada were 35-3 by the 11th over and 64-4 in the 18th before Mulla took control of the innings. He hit seven fours and a six off Collingwood over the roof of the midwicket stand and his fifth-wicket stand with Abdool Samad contributed 96 runs. They fell within the space of four balls8212;Mulla stumped and Samad 36 trapped lbw by Monty Panesar.
